Baynard Is Gone

by Dr Stacey on December 3, 2011

Baynard never went to the vet.  But he died 3 days ago in a cold veterinary clinic.  I wasn’t with him because nobody bothered to call me to let me know he was ill.  There are mean people in this world.

Baynie stopped eating and began bleeding from his nose at 3:30 in the afternoon on Wednesday.  His adopted owner was driving back to HHI from Miami.  The pet sitter took him to the vet.  He was dead by 8:30 pm.  I was notified the next day.  Baynard was my dog for 11 years and I feel awful that I was not with him in his final moments.  It was my worst fear that he wouldn’t die at home with his family and that fear came true.  I’ve been crying for days….I just feel so horrible.  My poor Baynie…..I didn’t get to say goodbye to him…..that is the worst.  At least he went quickly and didn’t have a long protracted illness.  I’m grateful he didn’t suffer.

I guess his ashes will go to his adopted owner.  I would have sprinkled his ashes in the ocean at his favorite place on the Sea Pines Beach where he loved to swim.

Everywhere I go, I see my beautiful boy.

Last night I called to him… see if his spirit came back to me.  I could feel him in the room…at the foot of the bed, like he always was.

Here with me and Stuie, where he belongs.

That’s so sad. I loved Baynie more than any other dog I’ve ever known. He was the sweetest, most gentle animal.
