The Baby Owl

by Dr Stacey on May 14, 2012

This beautiful baby owl fell out of it’s nest and was brought to Dr. Parker’s office in Bluffton.  I just had to go take a look at it.  I found it quietly sitting in the back of it’s cage.  There was a plate of cut up steak and a bowl of water near the front of the cage, but it didn’t look like it had been touched.  I peered into the cage and began talking softly to the little baby.  He looked so soft and fluffy, with his beautiful light colored baby feathers.  As I cooed to him, his large pointed beak would open and close as if he was trying to talk back to me.  I stayed with him for a while mesmerized by his beauty.  Owls are such fascinating creatures.  This little baby will be taken to a wildlife raptor sanctuary where he will be cared for until he is old enough to be released into the wild.  I feel bad that he was not able to return to the nest in the care of his mother, and I wish the best for him.
